Q. As a Medicare patient, why did I receive a bill for self-administrated drugs?
A. You have been seen at Kit Carson County Memorial Hospital as an outpatient, which includes ER visits & Observation Stays. During this time, your physician has ordered medications for you that can be taken orally. Medical considers those medications self-administered and therefore, they will not be covered by Medicare or by your secondary insurance. Q. What is an Observation stay?
A. An Observation stay is a short stay different form an inpatient stay. If you are an observation patient, you will receive a brochure from our staff with information regarding this type of stay.
