Cardiac & Pulmonary RehabilitationLocated within the hospital, our Cardiac & Pulmonary Rehabilitation programs offer a full range of services- education, wellness and prevention programs.
Our Services Include:Cardiac Rehabilitation
Pulmonary rehabilitation (Pulmonary rehab)Geared especially for people with lung diseases, including emphysema, asthma, and chronic bronchitis. The goal of pulmonary rehab is to allow you to enjoy your life and do the things you want to do.
Our focus is controlling shortness of breath and increasing your strength and endurance. This is accomplished with both education and exercise. We discuss breathing techniques, oxygen use and safety, diet, signs and symptoms of infection, and more. The breathing techniques and oxygen use are then integrated into your own personal exercise program and also into your daily activities. All of these components work together to reduce your shortness of breath and fatigue.
Most importantly, pulmonary rehab provides you with the support of others who endure lung disease. Depression and anxiety seem to go hand in hand with any chronic disease, and lung disease is no exception. Pulmonary rehab helps to combat these conditions because you realize that you are not alone. Most of your classmates come to class with an oxygen tank too. They experience debilitating shortness of breath and exhaustion with simple tasks too. You support your classmates, and they support you.
Cardiac rehabilitation (Cardiac rehab)Designed especially for people who have heart disease, such as a heart attack, stents placed, bypass surgery, valve surgery, and/or heart transplant. Our main focus is reducing risk factors and preventing future cardiac events. Heart disease has no cure, but it can be managed well. We focus on controlling cholesterol and blood pressure, eating a heart healthy diet, and beginning and maintaining an exercise program. Diabetes and being overweight pose enormous threats to heart health as well. As a result, we also discuss diabetes management and weight loss education.
These rehab programs meet at Parke Wellness Rehab Center, 182 16th Street, Burlington, CO 80807.
