Emergency Department (Emergency Room)
The emergency department at Kit Carson County Memorial Hospital (KCCMH) is a medical treatment facility specializing in acute care of patients who come without a prior appointment, either by their own means or by ambulance. The emergency department is located at the northwest entrance at Kit Carson County Memorial Hospital.Due to the unplanned nature of patient attendance, the department must provide initial treatment from a broad spectrum of illnesses and injuries, some of which may be life-threatening and require immediate attention. The emergency department at KCCMH operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
The emergency department at KCCMH is designated as a level IV Trauma Facility without reservations or deficiencies by the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment. The emergency department at KCCMH sees an average of 2,500 patients each year. A third of these visits are trauma related and approximately a fourth of ER visits are pediatric (ages 14 and younger) related.
