Emergency Department

The emergency department at Kit Carson County Memorial Hospital (KCCMH) is a medical treatment facility specializing in acute care of patients who come without a prior appointment, either by their own means or by ambulance. The emergency department is located at the northwest entrance at Kit Carson County Memorial Hospital and operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

What to bring with you to the emergency room and your provider’s appointments:

  • Your insurance card and driver’s license or other valid form of identification.

  • A list of your medications, allergies and surgeries. If you do not have a medication list ready, please bring the bottles with you.

  • Your primary provider’s name and phone number if that person is not local.

Level IV Trauma Facility

The emergency department at KCCMH is designated as a Level IV Trauma Facility without reservations or deficiencies by the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment. The emergency department at KCCMH sees an average of 2,500 patients each year. A third of these visits are trauma related and approximately a fourth of ER visits are pediatric (ages 14 and younger) related.

As a Trauma Level IV Facility our ER is equipped to handle patients that come through our doors 24/7. However, access to a second set of eyes and ears can be beneficial in critical cases. The eCare Emergency service provides that extra support to KCCMH’s clinicians when needed.
